Master Keys to Fix and Blend Colors Well

To achieve an ideal natural hair blending with dark hair, there are some main factors need to take into consideration:

Color Compatibility: Select shades that complement your natural hair, face, and style. Consider highlights or lowlights to create a blended look. For subtle contrast, opt for colors that are just a few shades lighter or darker.

Undertones: Consider the undertones of your hair (warm or cool) and select extensions with matching undertones to avoid clashing.

Undertones include the root and overall warmth or coolness of your hair. When choosing colored extensions, it’s important that the root color of the extensions matches or complements your natural hair's root undertones. This helps create a more natural transition between your natural hair and the extensions, especially if the roots are visible. Matching both the root color and the undertones ensures a seamless and cohesive look.

Placement: Proper placement is key. Balayage or ombre extensions work well for adding color without a harsh line of demarcation.

Hair Texture Blend: Ensure that the texture of the extensions matches your natural hair to create a cohesive appearance. If not, you may need to style your hair, such as straightening, curling, or twist braiding to make the texture blend better if you are using different textured hair from yours.

Effective Methods to Conceal the Ends of a Haircut

  • Proper Placement: Place the extensions slightly above where your natural ends fall, allowing the extensions to cover them.
  • Frame cut the ends of hair extensions: Backcombing at the roots can help create volume and cover the ends more effectively.

  • Cut the Hair after installation:Use a Blending Razo or thinning shears to blend your natural ends with the extensions for a smoother transition.
  • Braid Natural Hair Neatly and Flat:Cornrow braid your middle and back hair neatly and secure it with bobby pins before installing the hair extensions.
  • Curl or Wave the Hair: Adding curls or waves can help blend the ends of your natural hair with the extensions.

Improper Position and Placement

Easy Methods to Fix Thin Ends

  • Trim the Ends: If extensions are installed properly, lightly trim the ends of the extensions to remove any sparse areas, creating a fuller look.
  • Use Thicker Extensions: Opt for extensions with more density or double wefted extensions to add volume and conceal thin ends. CURLSQUEEN clip-ins are all double drawn and come with 10 pieces per pack, making them much fuller than those with only 5 pieces per pack.

Why Do My Hair Extensions Look Bulky and Not Seamless?

Why does the I-tip microlink extension installation in this picture look like such a disaster?

Improper Sectioning of the Hair

Sections per extension in this pic are way too large.

Improper Position and Placement

It starts from a position that is too high, preventing the natural hair from covering the extension bands.

Ways to Fix Improper Installation of Itip Microlink Hair Extensions

  • Proper Sectioning:Use clean, precise sectioning, start by dividing the hair into horizontal sections, beginning at the nape of the neck and working upwards. Each section should be about 1 inch wide.
  • This helps in distributing the weight more evenly and prevents the links from being too visible.
  • Keep Same Strand Size: Each strand of natural hair for the ITip should be about the same thickness as the iTip extension itself.
  • Proper Position and Placement :Examine the placement and distribution of the micro links. They should be uniformly spaced and not placed too close to the scalp to avoid tension and visibility
  • Proper Thickness of iTips: For a full, natural look, you'll typically need between 150-200 iTip extensions, depending on your hair thickness and desired volume.
